Blackboard Basics (Session I)
This hands-on session will introduce the Blackboard (Bb) Learn Management System for instructors and teaching assistants. You will learn how to navigate Bb and use its essential tools in the teaching and learning process.

After completion of this session, faculty will know how to:

  • Navigate Blackboard
  • Use both the Student Preview and Instructor view
  • Modify the Course Menu
  • Create course announcements
  • Add your contact information
  • Explore methods to email students
  • Upload your Course Syllabus
  • Create Content
  • Make your course available
  • Set up and deploy Assignments, Surveys, and Tests
  • Create an Assignment that integrates with SafeAssign and Turnitin plagiarism detection software


Beyond Blackboard Basics (Advanced) (Session II)
This session will introduce faculty to the advanced Blackboard Communication Tools as well as Bb Collaborate functions. After completion of this course, faculty will be able to:

  • Create Group(s)
  • Create Assignments using the Interactive Tools: Blogs, Wiki, Journals, and Discussion Board
  • Use the Grade Center

Registration is required since seats are limited. At the Institute, continental breakfast and lunch will be served. Additionally, all institute workshops will provide a stipend to eligible participants.
