For the first time, the Medgar Evers College Teaching with Technology Faculty Summer Institute starts in August. This year, the Office of Academic Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of Academic and Emerging Technology, will offer a professional development series focused on student engagement in the classroom; course design for learning and quality; and creating digital content for e-learning, all intended to assist our faculty in enriching the student learning experience at Medgar Evers College.

The Designing Your Online Course (DYOC) Workshop

This overview of the QM Rubric provides a framework for participants to design an online course plan. An integral element of the workshop is exploration of the eight General Standards of the QM Rubric, focusing on learning objectives and overall course alignment.

Learn how to get the most out of the library resources that are available both on and off campus and how to look up books in the online catalog and scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles in the online databases for your discipline. You will evaluate sources for research and learn advanced search techniques and classification systems using the library’s online databases.

Blackboard Learn
Certification Training

Become MEC Blackboard Certified in a day.

At the 2016 Summer “Teaching with Technology” Institute, the Office of Academic Affairs will launch its first Blackboard Certification Training Program. The Blackboard Certification Program offered at the Summer Institute will allow instructors to earn Blackboard Certification in one day. Faculty will also be able to earn this certification by taking multiple sessions, one by one, during the regular academic year.

Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)

This workshop is QM's flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and the process of using the QM Rubric to review online courses. It is intended for a broad audience, including but not limited to faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors who wish to understand more about the QM Rubric and process of course review.
